“Is it Dementia” … Free Information Session to Help Family Caregivers Better Understand Behavioural Changes in Older Adults

2025-05-09

On Wednesday, May 28 at 6:00 pm, Cornwall Community Hospital is hosting another in its series of caregiver information sessions for families dealing with mental health, substance use health and addiction issues.

Co-hosted by the hospital's Geriatric Mental Health Services team and the Alzheimer Society Cornwall and District, this in-person panel presentation will focus on the "three Ds" of potential change in older adults: Delirium, Dementia, and Depression.

All three can exhibit similar symptoms — such as confusion, memory issues, or personality changes — but they are very different conditions with distinct causes, treatments, and caregiver resources. Opportunities for questions will follow the presentations.

SPACE IS LIMITED, ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Email or call Erica at: erica.charlebois@cornwallhospital.ca or 613-361-6363 ext. 8728. The session will be taking place at the hospital’s Community Addiction and Mental Health Centre, located at 850 McConnell Avenue.
