New Anesthesiologist Joins Cornwall Hospital's Surgical Team
2026-09-03
Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) is excited to announce the
recruitment of Dr. Margaret Frith to its anesthesiology team.
Dr. Frith was raised in Brockville, Ontario, and completed
her undergraduate degree at Queen's University. She earned her medical degree
and Master's degree from Saba University School of Medicine. She completed her
anesthesiology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine in
Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2022 and practised as a staff anesthesiologist with
IU Health before returning to Canada.
The recruitment of anesthesiologists is vital to maintaining
and expanding surgical capacity. Anesthesiologists work with surgeons and
patients before, during and after surgery to manage anesthesia and pain while
helping to ensure patient safety. Their availability is also critical to the
hospital's ability to provide timely access to surgical procedures. CCH
performs nearly 8,000 surgeries each year, making a strong anesthesiology team
essential to meeting the needs of local patients.
“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Frith to CCH and to
continue strengthening our anesthesiology team,” said Dr. Anastasios Boubalos,
Chief of Staff. “Anesthesiologists play a critical role in our ability to
provide safe, timely surgical care. Having the necessary anesthesia capacity
allows us to perform more procedures, improve access to surgery and continue
our work to reduce surgical wait times and backlogs for patients in our
community.”
“I am very excited to join Cornwall Community Hospital and
contribute to the exceptional care being provided to patients across the
region,” said Dr. Frith. “I look forward to working alongside the talented team
at CCH and supporting the hospital's commitment to high-quality,
patient-centred surgical care.”
“Health Workforce Innovations Inc. is pleased to have led
the successful recruitment of Dr. Frith,” said Sherri Fournier Hudson, a
founding partner of the Brockville-based professional physician recruitment
firm.
“The greatest reward of our work is knowing that it
contributes to faster and better care for patients,” added Hon. George
Smitherman, the firm’s co-founder.
CCH has made significant progress in strengthening its
anesthesiology team, including welcoming a new anesthesiologist earlier this
year and preparing to welcome another later this year. With Dr. Frith's
recruitment, the hospital's anesthesiology team has grown to six physicians.
More broadly, CCH recruited 30 new physicians across the organization in
2024-2025, including locum physicians, helping strengthen services and meet the
healthcare needs of the community.
