Heart disease affects approximately 2.4 million Canadian adults, and is the second leading cause of death in Canada. February is Heart Month, and is the perfect time to bring attention to the risk and prevention of cardiovascular disease. Healthy lifestyle choices include smoking avoidance, a healthy and balanced diet, getting sufficient sleep, regular exercise, and monitoring blood pressure and cholesterol levels.


Chemotherapy Unit Celebrates 2 years
World Cancer Day occurs every year on February 4th to unite people around the globe in the fight against cancer. February 2018 marks two full years of Chemotherapy services at Cornwall Hospital. In February 2016, donors, staff and other stakeholders gathered to celebrate the official opening of the newly renovated chemotherapy at the hospital.

Why is CCH going smoke free?
 As of January 1st 2018, the Smoke-Free Ontario Act prohibits smoking anywhere on the grounds of any hospital in Ontario. The goal of the Act is to help smokers quit, prevent youth from starting and protect the 80% of Ontarians who don't smoke. Tobacco-related diseases cost the Ontario economy approximately $1.6 billion in health care annually, $4.4 billion in productivity losses annually and account for at least 500,000 hospital days each year.
