Organ and Tissue Donation

Cornwall Community Hospital has been a member of the Trillium Gift of Life Network (now a part of Ontario Health) since June of 2013 and participates in Ontario's Routine Notification Program so that their specially trained staff can identify potential donors and approach families to re-affirm consent.

Cornwall Community Hospital has since positioned itself as a regional leader in organ and tissue donation, being presented with the Trillium Gift of Life Network’s Conversation Rate Award in 2017 & 2020 and the Eligible Approach Rate Award in 2021.

In 2022, the hospital installed an organ and tissue memorial display in the waiting room of its Critical Care Unit to thank and pay tribute to organ and tissue donors at Cornwall Hospital and families who supported the decision to donate.

More than 90% of Ontarians are in favour of organ donation. However, only one in three Ontarians have registered their consent to donate. It only takes two minutes to register online by visiting www.BeADonor.ca.
