Chemotherapy and Medical Daycare Unit
At Cornwall Community Hospital, the Chemotherapy and Medical Daycare Clinics are combined as one unit which is located on the fifth floor of the hospital.
The Medical Daycare Clinic is responsible for various treatments and infusions that do not require admission to the hospital. Many hematology interventions are completed in this clinic, including:
- Iron Infusions
- Intravenous Immunoglobulin Treatment
- Phlebotomy and Transfusions of Blood Products
- Paracentesis
The Chemotherapy Clinic in the unit is a Regional Cancer Centre of The Ottawa Hospital. The Clinic houses 8 chairs and sees on average 10 to 15 patients per day. A “Bravery Bell” is also installed in the Clinic. When a patient rings the Bravery Bell, it announces that they have finished their treatment and serves as a sign of hope for both them and other patients.
